Held on weekends, this outstanding entry level course provides you with more than a fundamental understanding of the tactical shotgun.

Due to Front Sight’s intensified training curriculum, and outstanding instructional staff, upon completion of this course you will have the ability to use your shotgun in a manner that elevates you well above the rest of the gun owning public. If you don’t initially have the time for Front Sight’s four day course, this is the next best choice.

Lecture Topics Include: Deadly Force and the Law; Crisis Management; History and Development of the Combat Shotgun including the myths, realities, assets, and liabilities of a shotgun’s utility; Weapon and Ammunition Selection; Tactics; Mental Conditioning; Shoot / No Shoot Decision Making; and Shooting Aftermath.
Firing Range Drills Include: Checking Weapon Condition, Loading and Unloading; Firing Stance; Carry Positions; Patterning; Offhand, Kneeling, Sitting, and Close Range Emergency Shooting Positions; Target Engagement from 7 to 25 meters under time pressure; Tactical Reloading; Select Slug Drill with firing out to 50 meters; Malfunction Clearing; and Tactical Simulator Introduction.
Weapon, Equipment, and Ammunition Requirements: Any legally owned, pump-action or auto-loading shotgun in 12 or 20 gauge that is in safe operating condition with trigger guard intact and a sling attached for safe carry. Ear and eye protection, knee pads, elbow pads, and hat. 100 rounds of new, factory made 2¾″ Birdshot, 100 rounds of new, factory made 2¾″ 00 buckshot, and 25 rounds of new, factory made 2¾″ slug ammunition. A spare shotgun with sling is highly recommended in the event that your primary firearm breaks during the course.

Held Friday through Monday, this is a comprehensive course in the tactical use of the shotgun that will leave law enforcement officers, military personnel, and private citizens alike with an undisputed certainty in their ability to operate a shotgun with authority.

Regardless of your experience prior to entering this course, upon completion, your gunhandling and marksmanship skills will be better than they have ever been and you will have the ability to safely, rapidly, and decisively engage targets out to 25 meters. You will know your weapon well enough to confidently deliver buckshot to end a hostage scenario. Yes, precision head shots with a shotgun! For targets out past the effective pattern of your shotgun, select slug drills will enable you to extend the range of your weapon out to 100 yards. You will understand the principles of tactics and have multiple opportunities to use your acquired skills under the stress of simulated lethal encounters.

One thing you will not experience is the physical discomfort often associated with shooting Buckshot and Slugs. Front Sight teaches you the proper techniques to allow even persons of slight build to shoot the shotgun painlessly.

This course is a must for anyone who chooses to own or use a shotgun for defense or duty.

Lecture, Firing Range Drills and Ammunition Requirements: As listed in the Two Day Tactical Shotgun course description with an increase to 150 rounds of Birdshot, 300 rounds of 00 Buckshot, and 100 rounds of slug ammunition as Day Three and Day Four build your proficiency and speed of target engagement.

Heavy emphasis on tactical training simulation using reactive steel targets, moving targets, and shoot/no shoot targets in a variety of scenarios.

Course includes Evening Supplemental Lectures with Staff Social, Low Light and Night Shooting, Single Elimination Shoot Off, and Distinguished Graduate Skills Test.
